Established in 2010 by Claire Elliot Matthews, Kaiju Kennels is located in beautiful Eastern Washington. We are a small hobby kennel with only one or two litters per year. Our dogs are bred for structure, health, temperament, and conformation to the breed standard. We carefully choose our pairs to produce puppies that we would consider assets in our own breeding program. Kaiju Kennels proudly supports AKIHO and the breed split which has occured all over the rest of the world. We breed all three color varieties of the Japanese Akita, although we specialize in “red tiger” (赤虎 akatora) brindles. My husband and I share the love and care of our dogs, but I am the primary one responsible for training, showing, and breeding them.
